As you know, there will be a solar eclipse taking place on Monday, August 21st during summer camp hours. As much as we’d like to find a way to enjoy the experience with our campers, we cannot do so while ensuring their safety. Even if campers have the special glasses, there might be a temptation to peek. From about 1:10 pm until 3:50 pm we will be keeping the kids under shelter, away from the direct view of the sun. These plans will affect our regular programming. This will also affect our departure time by about 20 minutes.
Please understand that we are an outdoor facility and even with these planned measures in place, it may be necessary to move outside if an urgent situation unfolds. Children know that It’s generally frowned upon to stare directly into the sun under normal conditions. However, as the sky darkens slightly, curiosity might tempt us to look up. We ask that you please inform your children of the risks so that they avoid doing so.
If you would like to pick your child up early to experience the eclipse with them, please contact us and we will have them waiting at the office. We require that parent pick-ups take place no later than 1:00 pm. As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
